
Borongan City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda graced the turnover ceremony and ribbon-cutting of a road completion project in Barangay Cabong, Borongan City, September 6.
The road is named after the late Governor Victor A. Amasa Sr., who served as mayor of the municipality of Borongan in 1963. He was also the very first governor in Eastern Samar back in 1967.
Under the Local Government Code, local Sanggunians can name local roads, avenues, boulevards, thoroughfares, etc to perpetuate the memory of a citizen who made positive contributions to the locality.
Rev. Fr. Alipio Antonio AƱano Jr. led the blessing of the new road called Gov. Victor A. Amasa Sr. Street.
Also present during the activity were Victor Amasa Jr, Barangay Cabong Chairman Ogeniano Plana II, City Local Government Operations Officer (CLGOO) Candelaria Badillo, City Legal Officer Romeo Alexis Devora, OIC-City Information Office Rupert Ambil II, representatives from the City Engineering Office and Barangay Cabong officials.
