CATBALOGAN CITY — PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T Eleazar commended police officers in Muntinlupa City who showed professionalism despite being cursed and insulted by a motorist.
Initial information disclosed that the law enforcers responded to a situation in Tunasan, Muntinlupa City where the vehicle of motorist Franz Orbos obstructed the road.
A video of the incident, which went viral online, showed that when the policemen approached Orbos, the motorist shouted, cursed and even challenged the police officers. Orbos was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at that time.
Although the Muntinlupa City policemen dealt with Orbos in a peaceful manner, the motorist remained furious and unruly. In the video, the suspect insisted he was not doing anything wrong and remained uncooperative and resistant when he was handcuffed.
PGen Eleazar praised the law enforcers for observing maximum tolerance during that incident which could have gone worse “I commend the policemen who were verbally abused by the motorist for staying professional and keeping their tempers in check.”
“Napanood ko na ang viral video ng isang nagwalang motorista sa Muntinlupa at pinupuri ko ang mga pulis na nasa video sa pagpapakita ng tunay na kahulugan ng maximum tolerance,” said PGen Eleazar.
“Parang telenobela lang pero ganitong klaseng sitwasyon ang laging hinaharap ng inyong kapulisan sa mga lansangan, mga taong hindi marunong rumespeto sa batas dahil pakiramdam nila ay hindi sila sakop ng batas,” he added.
The PNP chief said Orbos would be slapped with various criminal charges, including Alarm and Scandal, Resistance & Disobedience to a Person in Authority or Agents, and Direct Assault.
“Ang angkang pinagmulan at ang estado sa buhay ay hindi dapat gamitin upang bastusin ang batas at apakan ang karapatan ng iba. That is why I salute those policemen for showing who the better persons are,” said PGen Eleazar.
“Kapag binastos mo ang batas at ang mga nagpapatupad nito, sisiguraduhin namin na mananagot ka kahit sino ka man o sino pa ang tatay mo. Dahil naniniwala ako na walang matinong magulang ang magkukunsinti sa ganitong klaseng asal ng mga anak,” he added. (PR)
